Using ChatGPT for insight discovery
1. Define your target audience
Be as specific as possible. Consider demographics, interests, industry, and any other relevant factors.
Example: "Small business owners in the tech industry who are looking to scale internationally."
2. Craft effective prompts
The quality of the insights depends on the questions you ask. Here are some prompts to get you started:
"What challenges do [target audience] typically face when [specific activity]?"
"List common frustrations for [target audience] regarding [industry/topic]."
"What are the unmet needs of [target audience] in [specific context]?"
Example: "What are the biggest challenges faced by small tech business owners when expanding into international markets?"
3. Analyze the responses
Review the AI's output carefully. Look for recurring themes or surprising insights that you might not have considered.
Identify key themes: Note common issues mentioned.
Dig deeper: For each pain point, ask follow-up questions to uncover underlying causes.
4. Validate the insights
While ChatGPT provides a wealth of information, it's essential to validate these insights:
Cross-reference: Check the AI-generated pain points against real-world data or feedback.
Engage directly: Use surveys or interviews to confirm the findings with actual members of your target audience.
Last prompt:
"As an experienced market analyst, identify and elaborate on the top 10 pain points faced by [your target audience] when [specific activity or context]. Provide detailed explanations and real-world examples for each pain point."
